From then on, the short history of San Pedro de Alcantara, the history of the 20th century has all been under the history of Marbella.
In this location, Romans settled here in the first centuries of our era. There are roman hot springs in the area of the Guadalmina river. In 1860 36 people lived, and a year ater this number climbed to 530. Little by little people from Istan, Marbella and Estepona started arriving in this locality. San Pedro de Alcantara had been born in the year 1861, and a few year later in 1873 the church was built by the engineer Azucarero. In the middle of the 20th century the first people began registering their homes in this municipality. From then on the demographic growth of homes in this area made a big jump and by the end of the 20th century the southern area began it´s construction giving the municipality the possibility to double its population.
